Make a resolution to manage your weight a little better in 2012? 
Whether your goal is to look and feel good, to fit into society or to live healthier, mastering the art of weight management is your ticket to success. Consider these ideas for reaching and maintaining a healthy weight - made easy! 
 
Figure Out Your Patterns
Think about how and what you eat. Keep a food journal by recording what, how much, and when you eat for about a week or so. Note your emotional state when you eat. Do you eat when you are nervous or upset or as a reward? When you are finished your journal, look over your notes and analyze your eating patterns.  
 
Keep it Healthy
Now that you know how you eat, it's time to make positive changes. Remember, before starting any weight management program be sure to consult your primary care physician. Eat a healthy diet by:
· Consuming a variety of foods rich with different vitamins and nutrients.
· Reducing fat, cholesterol, sugar, sodium.
· Eating smaller portions throughout the day.
· Having a balanced breakfast each morning. 
 
Exercise
Partake in at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Incorporate everyday activities to reach your 30 minutes by:
· Taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
· Walking the dog instead of letting them out in the back yard.
· Cleaning your house, doing some yard work - all count as great exercise. 
 
Putting it All Together
Always make sure to reaffirm your goals and concentrate on maintaining a healthy lifestyle for yourself and not for others. Concentrate on health vs. weight loss; the results could be exactly what you are looking for.
