Biometric Screenings

BHS’ comprehensive biometric screening battery includes:  

  • Height

  • Weight

  • BMI

  • Hip to waist measurement ratio

  • Pulse rate

  • Blood pressure

  • Total cholesterol or full lipid panel (HDL, LDL, triglycerides and total cholesterol)

  • Glucose 

All tests are conducted according to applicable state laws by licensed or certified health professionals. Finger stick and venipuncture methodology available.

Health Risk Assessment (HRA)

The BHS HRA addresses questions related to the following topics:

  • Cholesterol levels

  • Physical activity levels

  • Tobacco and alcohol use

  • Vehicle safety

  • Stress levels 

  • Height and weight 

  • Dietary habits

  • Blood pressure levels 

  • Preventative health

  • Productivity  

The online platform enables participants to take the HRA at their convenience and typically takes between 12 and 15 minutes to complete, depending on computer proficiency.  Individual and aggregate reports are generated in real time. Other HRA formats available.

Tobacco cessation

  • In this informative and interactive seminar, participants are supported in their efforts to break the habit. This 6-week series offers state-of-the-art methods, assessments, strategies and in depth discussion for preparing to quit as well as support for remaining tobacco free. 
          

Cooking demonstrations

  • Participants prepare and sample a multi-course healthy meal with the help of a health professional. At the same time, they learn easy shopping and food preparation tips to help them make better, healthier food choices in the future. 


 

Physical Activities & Health Promotion

Nutrition consultation 

  • Registered dietitians and nutritionists meet with individual employees to develop personalized meal plans, discuss basic nutrition, portion control, label reading, healthy shopping, eating “on the run” and other relevant nutrition topics. Small group sessions may also be provided.
          

Exercise consultation 

  • Exercise physiologists and personal trainers work with employees one-on-one to develop and implement custom workout routines and ensure comfort with fitness equipment. Small group sessions may also be provided.
          

Massage

  • Among alternative medicine practices surveyed, medical practitioners ranked massage therapy highest (74%) in terms of being effective. As an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs, it has proven beneficial for back pain, arthritis, cancer-related fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, immunity suppression, infertility, sleep disorders, eating disorders, smoking cessation, depression and more. 

    BHS is able to offer seated massages in a variety of intervals to suit employee needs.

  • We offer a variety of wellness booths to educate and promote healthy lifestyle changes among employees.
